1. Who we are

YouTv is operated by YouTv studio ("the Seller", "we", "us"). The Seller is the data controller responsible for personal data processed through YouTv.

2. What we collect

  • Account data: username, display name, password hash, optional contact email, avatar and banner images.
  • Content data: videos, thumbnails, titles, descriptions, comments, likes, saves, subscriptions, watch history.
  • Usage and telemetry: pages viewed, video views, interactions, approximate device and browser information, IP address, and rough location derived from IP.
  • Support communications: messages you send to us.
  • Advertising data: for Boost campaigns, the videos you promote and aggregate campaign performance (impressions, clicks, spend).

Payment card details are collected directly by Paddle, our Merchant of Record, and are not stored by us.

3. Why we use it

  • Create and secure your account (contract performance).
  • Provide the core video, feed, and social features (contract performance).
  • Personalize recommendations and Rolls (legitimate interest in a useful product).
  • Detect abuse, spam, and fraud (legitimate interest and legal obligation).
  • Operate Boost advertising and measure campaign performance (contract performance for advertisers, legitimate interest for viewers).
  • Send transactional messages (contract performance) and, only with consent, marketing messages.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

4. Who we share it with

  • Hosting and backend: our cloud infrastructure providers who host the app and database.
  • Merchant of Record: Paddle for sale of Boost campaigns and any other paid features, including checkout, subscription management, payments, tax compliance, invoicing, and refunds.
  • Professional advisers: legal and accounting advisers where necessary.
  • Authorities: where required by law or to protect rights and safety.

We do not sell your personal data.

5. International transfers

Personal data may be processed outside your country, including in the United States and the European Economic Area. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or adequacy decisions.

6. Retention

We keep personal data for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. When data is no longer needed it is deleted or anonymised.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your personal data, to object to processing, and to withdraw consent. EEA and UK users may lodge a complaint with their local data protection authority. We aim to respond to requests within one month.

8. Security

We use appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect personal data, including encryption in transit, access controls, and row-level security in our database. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.

9. Cookies

We use a small number of essential cookies and similar storage (such as localStorage) to keep you signed in and remember your preferences. We may also use privacy-friendly analytics to understand aggregate usage. You can manage cookies through your browser settings.

10. Children

YouTv is not directed to children under the age required by local law to consent to online services. If you believe a child has provided personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
